History Movie Marathon

I am a huge movie buff, I even have a huge collection of movie tickets I've been saving since I was 10! I watch almost anything but the main thing I love is suspense, puzzles and mysteries. While we haven't been able to go to the movie theater recently we can still grab our popcorn and snacks and settle down for a movie night at home.

Here is my (short) list of historical themed movies for a great movie night! Some are historically accurate and some are not as serious.

1917

This is a 2019 movie following two British Soldiers -Lance Corporal Schofield and Lance Corporal Blake- who must cross into enemy territory to deliver a message that could save their fellow comrades including Blake's own brother. It's a race against time to get the message to them. This movie is loosely based on a true story.

National Treasure 1 and 2

While these movies are not historically true (there's no treasure map on the back of the Declaration....allegedly) I'll admit these are still my favorite movies from childhood. National Treasure is a 2004 adventure movie. Ben Gates has been searching for a treasure dating back to the creation of the United States with Ian Howe. When Howe betrays him, its a race against time to grab the Declaration of Independence and solve the mystery.

The Imitation Game

This is a 2014 Historical Drama taking place during World War II. The English Mathematician Alan Turing rushes to crack the German Enigma code with help from fellow mathematicians. Based on the real life of Alan Turing, who is considered the father of computer technology.

Night at the Museum Series

Another movie series that started in my childhood the Night at the Museum series is a historical adventure comedy that started in 2006. Security Guard Larry Daley must protect the museum and discovers what happens at night. Now he must prevent things from getting in and from getting out.
